			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Romay Corp is introducing Whisker Ceramic Inserts for machining &#8216;exotic&#8217; alloys such as Inconel 718.</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://www.romaycorp.com/">Ceramic cutting tools</a> are a well established technology for use on heat resistant alloys.  Romay Ceramic Inserts can cut up to 10x faster than Carbide Inserts.</p>
<p>To further develop this outstanding machining technology, Romay Corp has launched its CC-600 grade of Whisker Ceramic.  Pure fine grain alumina is re-enforced by whiskers of silicon carbide fibers.  The fibers add tensile strength and fracture toughness to the alumina substrate even at elevated temperatures.</p>
<p>The CC-600 works differently than conventional tooling.  An Inconel material of 35 HRC can be machined at speeds of 1,600 SFPM(500m/min) while a material of 60 HRC could be machined at 300 SFPM(100m/min).  The elevated cutting speeds generate high temperatures that plasticize the chip area.  This pushes the workpiece material off in a series of shear plane chips.</p>
<p>These reductions in cycle time provide significant part production savings, while the high metal removal rates give customers an edge in our difficult global marketplace.</p>

<div id="_mcePaste">Escalating cost pressures are forcing manufacturers of gray cast iron brake disks and fly wheels to look for cost-cutting solutions.  <a href="http://www.romaycorp.com/insertgrades.php">Silicon Nitride</a> inserts deliver higher productivity and longer tool life than coated carbide, at a fraction of the cost of CBN inserts.  Romay has developed the extremely hard, wear resistant CC-515 grade of Silicon Nitride to be used for roughing and finishing of gray, ductile, and nodular cast iron at elevated speeds.  To ensure secure seating, the inserts are available with dimple design clamping.  Here is a sample of what I&#8217;m talking about from our 2010 Catalog:</div>
